About Me
¡Hola! I’m Mariela, a San Diego–based bilingual singer and songwriter. I’ve spent over 15 years performing live, writing, and recording music, and I feel grateful every time I get to step on stage or share a song.
I grew up listening to many styles, from Mariachi to R&B, and artists like Celia Cruz, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Astrud Gilberto, and Mercedes Sosa deeply shaped how I sing and write. My approach to music is rooted in emotion and connection, and I like to create songs and performances that feel honest and heartfelt.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to perform alongside and open for artists such as Maná, Romeo Santos, Selena Gomez, Ely Guerra, Yuridia, and Edith Márquez. I’ve also had the honor of singing both the Mexican and American national anthems for the San Diego Padres and San Diego FC.
I currently perform with several San Diego–based bands and am one of the singers for the San Diego Sabrosas Latin Orchestra. I’ve had the opportunity to sing for organizations like the NFL, Apple, Intuit, Best Buy, YMCA, Girl Scouts, Classics 4 Kids, and the San Diego Chargers.
Giving back is an important part of my journey. I’m a credentialed dual language music teacher, and I write music for children to help them learn, express themselves, and connect through music. Whether I’m singing for a large crowd or an intimate audience, I’m truly grateful for every chance to share music and connect with people.
